In January of 2008 I discovered I had single cell carcinoma. It was removed but there was a haunting fear that there might be more places affected. I also found out that my cholesterol and triglycerides were at such high levels I could not be approved for a basic life insurance policy. My husband also had some very serious numbers and there was a problem with his liver.
We both were carrying around a lot of extra weight.
I had been having some other issues with my health including kidney stones, heart palpations, numerous skin tags and I had a lot of trouble sleeping through the night.
I had prayed that God would heal me of these things and wondered why I was still so miserable.
About a year earlier a lady at church told me I needed to read a couple of books. One was called "The Maker's Diet" and the other was "The Hallelujah Diet". I read them both and knew that my problems could quite likely be addressed through diet but still only made a few changes and generally returned to bad eating patterns - frequent fast food feasts, meat, ice cream and cookies.
Well, after the really bad news that I would have to wait to be re-evaluated for six months we decided to take the plunge.
My husband, Jim, and I began the Hallelujah diet the end of January. We began juicing carrots mostly. Jim has his carrot juice with an apple and I enjoy mine plane. That is our breakfast. We usually have some fruit between breakfast and lunch and then enjoy a big salad and maybe some bread for lunch. We have had a variety of different foods for our supper. Sometimes a fruit smoothie or maybe chips and salsa or a big fruit salad and a vegetable salad.
We both are amazed at how quickly we began having more energy. We both began exercising regularly. I still work out with a workout video because it's just easier for me to keep things running smoothly at home. We homeschool so this allows me to be here for the kids. Jim swims or walks at the "Y" and we often go to the state park for a good hike.
We have lost some weight. Jim has lost 40 pounds and I have lost 24. We look so much better. I hate to look at pictures of us fat. We both want very much to stay with raw eating for life. We love our children and grandchildren and our church and we want very much to be healthy enough to give them our best.
